A guiding philosophy in Prashant’s teaching is to show students how to train intelligently and educate themselves in addition to his instruction. This differs from the general mindset of many gyms which teach strictly by the book. Control Kickboxing is his effort to change this mindset in the training scene. Bringing over 15 years of training experience to the table, he is a strong believer in continuing education both for himself and his students. His sessions are the product of careful research, training, and several thousands of hours of film study.
Prashant has formed his own teaching style over his many years as an instructor. He believes the arts should be both enjoyable and accessible to everyone. Control Kickboxing is his way of exposing the people to a unique, un-intimidating training that will breed technical athletes and artists.
WHAT GOT YOU INTO MARTIAL ARTS?
Watching Rafiki beat up the hyenas at the end of The Lion King. I was 4.
WHAT MADE YOU STICK WITH IT?
It gave me confidence and something to look forward to after school. I made tons of friends and learned to protect myself... which is kind of important when you grow up a geek.
FAVORITE PART OF TEACHING?
Seeing others come out of their shell and find the same confidence I did.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR TEACHING STYLE?
I keep things informal. I make a lot of jokes (most of which don't land). Everybody is different. I teach to make each student better at their own style.
I have two cats. Their names are Chairman Meow and Luna-muh-Tuna.
